Are we not doing

Tonee Earle (00:09.016)
Move your mic.

LaToya (00:09.134)
Tonee Earle (00:13.524)
out the way and then don't forget to move it back.

AE (00:48.417)
Biguchi.

Tonee Earle (00:49.326)
Yeah.

I'm chilling, I'm chilling. And then we got the lovely Mrs. Amazing Tone Earl in the building. How you doing?

Tonee Earle (01:46.688)
Doing good, doing good. Happy to chat.

AE (01:49.886)
Yeah, yeah. We're some movie connoisseurs in here, so you know the the audience is getting a very special treat today. Very special treat today. Alright, out the gate, I have a question for you guys. It's a would you rather? Would you rather now you have to live here forever. You're getting dropped in this city and you have to live here forever. No exceptions. Would you rather live forever in the city of Ithaca, the home.

LaToya (01:56.654)
you

AE (02:18.761)
at birthplace of Odysseus or would you rather live in MCU New York City?

Dang. Wow, that was fast.

LaToya (02:28.27)
Yeah

Tonee Earle (02:29.3)
And not even that's not even hard. That's not even hard. Ithaca. Every other day some type of alien attack happening in the MCU, New York. If the worst I gotta worry about is the sea people, I'll take my chances.

AE (02:38.945)
I shoot.

AE (02:43.339)
The seat listen, man, but you're gonna die. I mean you I guess you could die in New York. It either what?

Tonee Earle (02:45.696)
I got a army. I got a army, bro. How come I'm gonna die by an alien ship or some one of the Avengers trying to save me? I'm be good.

LaToya (02:46.03)
You're definitely going to die. You're definitely going to die.

AE (02:53.175)
That's you go by Really? Really?

LaToya (02:56.174)
I'm going for New York in every lifetime. Always New York, always New York. Because never a dull moment. I would love to see a Spider-Man going through the city on a web. I would love to see half of my classmates disappear for an extended period of time. And then maybe they come back, you know, perhaps T'Challa or, you know, somebody make their way to New York City. So I'm going to New York. I'm going to stick with New York.

AE (03:14.279)
Mm.

AE (03:25.931)
You just go to hope to see the siding of the of the celebrity Avengers.

Tonee Earle (03:26.358)
All right.

LaToya (03:27.84)
Yeah, and then, you know, the next one, the next one. So hopefully that will make a story line at some point.

Tonee Earle (03:32.67)
Ha ha ha

LaToya (03:37.666)
So I'm going with New York.

AE (03:38.815)
I I think we'd be more freaked out. We we think it would be cool seeing a man in the blue and red suit flying through the city, but I think we'd be more freaked out more than anything. Especially walking home. Imagine going home after like a class or something and you just see somebody swinging above your head. That's crazy.

LaToya (03:54.447)
But for them, it's like normal. It's like every day. It's like they got Spider-Man trackers. So yeah, it's normal.

AE (03:57.174)
True. True. That's true, they do. All right. So obviously the reason why I asked. honestly, I I would I would be good to go to New York. It's it's it's a no burden for me too. Like I'll be in New York. I'll go back home. It'll be crazy obviously seeing all the destruction and the and the death. That would suck. But honestly to see Iron Man, like if I was able to get like a front row view of

Tonee Earle (04:05.73)
Where would you go?

LaToya (04:07.446)
Yeah, we're even.

AE (04:26.827)
The Battle of New York in the first Avengers. That would've been crazy. I would have been helping out to have been throwing rocks.

Tonee Earle (04:29.73)
Yo, it'd be funny if it'd been funny if your first day in New York Dino snapped you off the earth. Just gone.

AE (04:36.272)
Yeah.

LaToya (04:36.302)
Just like that.

AE (04:40.299)
That's a strong possibility. That's a strong p what what half yeah think would ya be a partner? What half you think you would be on? You think you'd be on the Really?

Tonee Earle (04:47.523)
no, I'd still be here. I wouldn't be snapped.

LaToya (04:51.746)
Yeah, my name is in the Lamb's Book of Life, so I know.

AE (04:53.879)
It's written in your name

Tonee Earle (04:54.378)
Yep. Yep. Yep.

LaToya (04:59.214)
I know I should still be here.

AE (04:59.675)
My name is R my gosh. That was all about that. It was about resources. I think maybe the the criteria is whether or not this person will be able to contribute contribute to the society. And the rest of them is like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Tonee Earle (05:01.623)
Yep.

LaToya (05:05.632)
I know, but...

LaToya (05:12.067)
Have

I'm a problem solver, I'm a fixer, I'm an asset. So there's no way there, there's no way they're not snapping me. So I can't speak for everybody, but I know where I'm gonna be.

AE (05:18.665)
No brain it.

Tonee Earle (05:24.13)
Right.

AE (05:24.747)
Man. man. All right. So Odyssey and the Spider Man. Let's see. Let's see. Let's go with the Odyssey. Tell me where you guys saw the Odyssey and give me a rating out the gate. Out of 10. Just the rating where you saw it. And then we'll do Spider Man next.

LaToya (05:45.017)
So I saw it in Atlanta, I it with my family, specifically my niece, my 12-year-old niece who helped me with some of the Greek mythology that I did not remember. so shout outs to Maggie. I'm going to give it, this is hard because I'm like, are we rating like movies for this year or just like in general, like overall?

AE (05:59.192)
Hmm.

Chia Maggie.

AE (06:11.933)
overall, just in general, as a whole, that will stand the test of time.

Tonee Earle (06:13.09)
Just as a whole, as a movie. As a singular piece of work, yeah.

LaToya (06:14.89)
well, as a whole. Okay, thank you. That's good context. I'm gonna give it, I'm gonna give it, I'm gonna give it an eight and a half out of 10.

AE (06:21.088)
Hey.

AE (06:30.783)
Okay, we'll we'll get back to that. Tonight, it's on you.

LaToya (06:31.096)
I'm not sure.

Tonee Earle (06:31.874)
I like that score. so I saw it just kind of in regular theaters in Arizona. And then literally next day I saw it on a seventy millimeter screen, but it wasn't IMAX. I still have yet to see it in IMAX. and I I enjoyed it. Like I'll watch it again because I really do want to see it in IMAX. So I'd probably give it a nine. I'll give it a nine out of ten. Thought it was a really good movie. I do have notes, but not a lot of notes.

AE (06:46.039)
Mm-hmm.

AE (06:58.027)
Nice.

AE (07:05.429)
I also saw it in Arizona. We saw it together, obviously. and we saw back to back days. The first time I liked it, but I was underwhelmed. I was like, I don't know. I was expecting more. I I wanted more. And then I watched the second time, I was like, okay, this is amazing. But overall, somebody I'm I'm taking somebody else's critique of it or or description of it. He said it wasn't as good as I thought it was gonna be, but it was still really good.

And that's how I feel about it. And I'll give it an eight also an eight and a half. I I I too wanna watch it in IMAX and make a final decision on that. But yeah. But and d but I think just the fact that I want to watch it a third time shows how highly I think of this movie. There's not a lot of movies that I would watch even twice. So the fact that I go watch it a third time, I'll go back and watch it th a third time speaks speaks to my review of it.

LaToya (07:55.34)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

AE (08:03.959)
Tonee Earle (08:04.364)
Law, did you see it in IMAX?

LaToya (08:07.288)
Say it again.

Tonee Earle (08:09.656)
Did you see it in IMAX?

AE (08:10.273)
Wait, your audio.

LaToya (08:13.044)
I did the first, well, I've only seen it once, but yes, I did in Atlanta. yeah, I started like visually like stunning the sound, the soundtrack. I ended up going like looking into like the guy who did the score of it. He's the same person who did centers. Okay.

Tonee Earle (08:35.864)
Mm-hmm.

AE (08:36.035)
Mm-hmm, hold on hold on. I think Tony f changed to get her audio device back. And let her ask a question again 'cause there's some feedback and I don't wanna have you say it all over again.

LaToya (08:47.118)
Tony asked me.

Tonee Earle (08:54.424)
I don't know what it changed.

AE (08:56.469)
Yeah, it said it said your recording device changed. Did your mic cut out?

Tonee Earle (09:03.02)
Yeah, now it's using my MacBook, but

Tonee Earle (09:37.612)
Yeah, I can't even click on the F deuce. it's it won't let me change while recording.

AE (09:40.267)
It's not it's not coming up as an option.

AE (09:45.335)
Hmm.

Tonee Earle (09:46.114)
But it changed it. Wow.

AE (09:48.117)
Right.

Tonee Earle (09:50.006)
That's weird.

Tonee Earle (09:55.846)
maybe I can leave and come back.

AE (09:56.813)
But it should Yeah, leave and come back and see if that works.

If not might

AE (10:06.328)
Let's see.

LaToya (10:12.792)
So when do you and Tone Hay record?

AE (10:16.984)
we're not on a consistent schedule. It's more so like idea comes, hey, when d when can you record? And then we record. Yeah. We need we need to work on that. Again, on a consistent schedule, but Yeah, that works. All right, cool. Just start with asking a lot of questions about IMAX again and then we should be good.

LaToya (10:19.586)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (10:25.25)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (10:40.163)
a law. Did you see it in IMAX?

LaToya (10:43.318)
I did. I saw it in IMAX in Atlanta and I found it visually stunning. And I got super wrapped up in the soundtrack and the score of it. So I started looking into it and the guy who did the score is the same person who did the different centers. So then that took me down a rabbit hole of all of the sounds.

AE (10:59.768)
Mm.

Tonee Earle (11:07.353)
Mm.

AE (11:12.44)
Hm.

LaToya (11:12.908)
I found it to be just really stunning in that way.

AE (11:19.266)
Yeah. Yeah. Which which movie would you rather be an actress in?

LaToya (11:26.156)
like between Spiderman and-

AE (11:26.358)
Like if you if you could get you between Spider Man and the Odyssey, like if there was like a dream role and you it was like a starring role, which ones would you rather be in?

Tonee Earle (11:37.869)
Like the Odyssey had more monologues, it had more opportunity to show range. Spider Man, I feel like a lot of the guest stars had very short you know amount of time in those movies. And even for some like even Elliot Page, like sh she sh he they he they I don't know if their pronouns are they did not have they didn't have a lot a long amount of recording time but

AE (11:50.561)
Mm-hmm.

AE (12:01.517)
Ha ha.

LaToya (12:06.958)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (12:07.449)
the amount of time that they did had was just spectacular.

LaToya (12:13.539)
Yeah.

AE (12:13.73)
Yeah.

LaToya (12:19.97)
I guess I was like, so we're not talking about like star role, we're talking about just like a guest role. I'm like, yeah, I would be easy there.

AE (12:27.69)
Yeah, guess roll. Like you got you got you got a total of thirty minutes

Tonee Earle (12:35.424)
So she's trying to be MJ.

AE (12:37.868)
Wait, which one though? Which one though? 'Cause she was in both. They both in both. Man

LaToya (12:38.298)
yeah, exactly. now they both in both. They both in both. That check, that check. They both of them. Wow.

Tonee Earle (12:40.482)
She could be a variant. Right.

Tonee Earle (12:46.786)
She could be Miles Morales MJ.

AE (12:49.644)
I wonder what the the tax document is like. That that joint married joint income that joint is fine crazy. Is it tax?

LaToya (12:53.422)
Right. I know. I'm y'all foul joint or a single?

I think I would, I probably would take an Athena monologue. I think so. Yeah. So I guess that would be Zendaya.

AE (13:09.856)
Mm.

AE (13:14.328)
To work the acting chops. Either way. Either way, Zandaya. Yeah. I think the Odyssey too. Yeah. The Odyssey gives you more chances to to work your acting chops. Even if it's like the st the staring, just this facial expression. Because Zendaya didn't even say much. But she was able to use her face and allow her facial expressions to say a lot. Right, right.

LaToya (13:19.938)
Hmm.

Tonee Earle (13:31.736)
She said enough.

LaToya (13:33.518)
Right. Well that and it's like, in the Odyssey, you need to work with a coach on your accent either. It's like you could just come in with whatever voice you got.

Tonee Earle (13:42.008)
Mm-hmm.

AE (13:44.653)
Right? That's all yo. I asked Tony that right after the movie. I like, am I bugging, or did they all just choose whatever voice they wanted? Like, what were they like where was this bass for real? I was so confused. Exactly. Exactly. England Bri Brick Brixton Brixton, London. Like

LaToya (13:54.255)
like they was from Philly, was from Pittsburgh, they were from Scotland, were from Africa, like so Nigeria, right? was like, okay, okay.

Tonee Earle (14:08.888)
Christopher sa Christopher Nolan said, We got a lot of practical stunts that we gotta make work in this two hundred and fifty million budget. We ain't got time to waste on speech coaches and whatnot.

LaToya (14:13.632)
Yeah, so...

AE (14:14.464)
Right. Mm-hmm.

LaToya (14:18.785)
Yeah.

AE (14:20.568)
Alright, which one made you think more? Which gave you which one gave you more to think about? you did it? my fault. Okay. Spider Man. Rate and where did you see it?

Tonee Earle (14:25.4)
We didn't rate Spider Man, we only rated Odyssey. Yeah.

LaToya (14:34.488)
So Spider-Man I saw in IMAX as well. got to go to like a pre-screening with a couple of like other reviewers. What are the people who get to review movies early? In Maryland, I would rate it, I would give it a nine out of 10. I just felt so good watching it.

AE (15:00.024)
Mm.

Tonee Earle (15:01.785)
You thought Spider Man was better than The Odyssey?

AE (15:03.116)
Hot take, hot take, hot take time.

LaToya (15:04.214)
Well, again, I get it's different, good in a different way. Like I don't, wouldn't, I would never put them both in the same category. I'm, Spider-Man is not a serious movie to me. I mean that, like, I come in peace. I come in peace with all the Marvel people. Right. They are, you know, not always popular, but yeah, it just felt.

Tonee Earle (15:08.569)
Mm.

AE (15:15.64)
Mm.

Tonee Earle (15:17.977)
She said it's a bit kiddish, but right, right.

AE (15:20.738)
The c the comic book people gonna come for you.

Tonee Earle (15:28.953)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (15:30.318)
Maybe it was a day that I was having it just felt really good So that's why I would give it a nine I have notes as well There's some things that I would have wanted to see done differently, but I still really I enjoyed it. I did What you thinking Tony

AE (15:33.273)
Mm-hmm. Lifted your spirits.

Tonee Earle (15:47.991)
Yeah. Yeah. we also saw Spider Man in Arizona at just kind of like regular theater, parkplace mall. and I I'm still sitting with Spider Man honestly in terms of rating it because I think I listened to a lot of like the outside chatter in preparation to Spider Man. So I had saw something that said you needed to watch Loki in order to be

In order to like understand and like we had already watched that series, but I had like started watching it over again just to prepare. And then when like there was absolutely nothing in the movie that had any relation to Loki, I was kinda disappointed because I thought this was gonna kind of further that storyline, but I guess we have to wait till like doomsday. so I mean, you know, it was a it was a cool movie. Obviously we were introduced to some are we allowed to spo do spoilers? Is it spoilers? All right.

LaToya (16:26.712)
Mm-hmm.

AE (16:28.311)
Yeah.

AE (16:42.7)
Yeah, respawning it. Yeah, about it. Yeah, respawning. Spoiler warning. We are spoiling it. Yeah.

LaToya (16:43.372)
Yeah, at this point, at this point, should have seen it by now.

Tonee Earle (16:46.521)
Ha

If you have not seen it, what are you doing? but yeah, I mean we were introduced to Gene and I thought that was cool. That was cool. And we and you know, Spider-Man is is now the person who kind of created the device that kind of creates that mutant versus arc. so you know, there's cool things that were happening in it. I just I don't know, I kind of felt like Thunderbolts did a similar thing and

LaToya (16:50.798)
Right.

AE (16:52.696)
Yeah. Yeah.

AE (17:06.456)
Crazy.

LaToya (17:09.921)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (17:20.677)
Therefore I was just like, okay, cool story, bro. But I g I guess I'll give it like a seven. I guess I'll give it a seven. It was still good. It was a good movie. But the longer I think about it, I'm like, nah, they could have definitely gave me way more.

LaToya (17:25.134)
You

LaToya (17:30.802)
huh.

LaToya (17:36.719)
And I think the difference is like, I'm okay, like I've seen it, like I don't need to go run and watch that again, if that makes sense. Like, whereas like the Odyssey, like I actually do want to watch it again, because now that I have that Greek mythology lesson from my niece, I'm like, okay. Like now I feel like I've got, can like things track a little bit better for me. So.

AE (17:37.74)
Yeah. I see.

AE (17:54.104)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (17:59.863)
Yeah. But I also like I will watch Far From Home any day. Like that movie is amazing. But Brand

LaToya (18:05.91)
Mm-hmm.

AE (18:07.873)
Mm.

LaToya (18:09.805)
Mm-hmm.

AE (18:10.947)
That's the one in D C, right? That's a that's a D C one?

Tonee Earle (18:14.198)
Isn't that the one? no, No Way Home, No Way Home. The one with Toby and Andrew Garfield. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll watch that one any day. That one was beautifully done. And I will say for the Odyssey, we decided to read the book before watching it. And so that was honestly very helpful because I I was look I was trying to think about okay, how is Christopher Nolan about to depict a lot of these, you know, mystical figures and kind of ideas that are happening in this book?

AE (18:20.63)
the yeah, the multiverse. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.

LaToya (18:30.35)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (18:34.06)
Mm-hmm.

AE (18:41.805)
Yeah.

LaToya (18:41.934)
don't know.

Tonee Earle (18:44.119)
And I thought he did a a really amazing job. And when I learned that the adaptation that he used to create his version was based off the only adaptation written by a woman, I thought, Wow. Chef's kiss. Yeah. A man who knows.

LaToya (18:45.805)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (18:55.17)
Yep. Yeah. Yeah. I, I read the Odyssey in high school. but that was, yeah, that was, yeah, that was like, I was like in the nine nine and two thousands though. like, don't, I don't remember. was like, I need a refresher.

Tonee Earle (19:05.785)
Mm-hmm.

AE (19:07.081)
Like everybody read it in high school except for me. I d I don't get it. Like everybody read it in high school. It's crazy.

Tonee Earle (19:09.365)
I didn't read it in high school.

AE (19:16.982)
Ha ha.

Tonee Earle (19:17.933)
Back in the day.

LaToya (19:23.52)
And so, yes. What did you think?

AE (19:24.153)
Mm-hmm.

AE (19:28.661)
so I give Spider Man an eight, solid eight. we watched it obviously, yeah. We watched it in Arizona. It was a great time. the Arizona movie theaters are are really, really nice. We and we enjoy our theater out here. and and the watching the movie was a great time. Like I was screaming out when they when when when Spider Man opened the file and it said Gene Gray. I literally said, Yo! Like I was interactive with it. A lot of people in the theater were very much interactive.

LaToya (19:31.17)
Okay.

LaToya (19:53.334)
Bye.

Mm-hmm.

AE (19:56.716)
in the movie and I love that about that because I feel like Marvel movies kind of lost that, at least for me, where it's like since Infinity Wars, you didn't feel as invested in a lot of these movies. It's like it's I sorry, No Way Home, you felt that too. But this one, it was able to bring out those reactions for me. So I I enjoyed that. So I give it a solid eight. So and since we're we're moving into in into the Odyssey, l let's let's go there. Let let's talk about the Odyssey. You Lau, you say you read it in high school.

LaToya (20:25.954)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.

AE (20:25.997)
But don't remember much. but let's let's see if you can recall. Today you said you we today read it. so we and today had a challenge. We were like, we bought the book like a month out or two months out from the movie, and we said the person who reads the most or finishes the book first, the person who loses has to buy tickets and buy merch. And yeah, yeah, I lost. Yeah, I'm about to say, yeah.

LaToya (20:47.886)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (20:48.865)
Which I did not get my merch.

LaToya (20:50.766)
Who?

Tonee Earle (20:52.619)
I did not get my merch now I'm thinking about it.

AE (20:53.605)
I gotta get some merch. It's in the mid Amazon is bugging. Like I it's different. I guess Prime ain't what it used to be.

Tonee Earle (20:57.07)
LaToya (20:57.215)
You

Tonee Earle (21:04.279)
It's been more than two days, my guy.

AE (21:04.361)
but chill, chill, chill, chill. So we we read it, so we had a good base, and I'm glad I read some of it because it cre it it set the foundation for the world we're about to enter into. So the first question I have, I need you guys to answer this. Is Odysseus a hero? Is he a hero? Goat.

LaToya (21:11.372)
you

LaToya (21:20.801)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (21:32.842)
Not at all.

Tonee Earle (21:32.919)
Not even by his own standards.

AE (21:33.281)
Tell me why or why not.

Tonee Earle (21:36.835)
I don't think not even by his own standards is he he don't even think he's a hero.

AE (21:40.877)
But he's he's per purported that way. Even on the cover of the book, his his his his his stature and form and how he's talked about, they wrote a song about him. They don't write they don't write a song about anybody.

Tonee Earle (21:51.937)
I think I think being a hero can be subjective. Is he a hero to Ag Mindong? Or however you say his name? Sure. Agmin Dom thinks he's a hero for sure. Cause he won, he helped win the battle. But at what cost?

AE (22:00.065)
Mm. I could be not

Yeah.

LaToya (22:08.608)
Right. He's probably a hero to his wife and to his son and that's about it. mean, like.

AE (22:13.057)
Mm.

AE (22:17.987)
Fees.

Tonee Earle (22:18.295)
I mean, he w he came back home and had to disguise himself and didn't kill everybody just to, you know, get back to his wife.

LaToya (22:20.588)
Yes. Right.

LaToya (22:27.758)
Yeah. I mean, no one that he took to battle with him came back. There were no survivors. There's no survivors. It was all his fault. Yeah.

Tonee Earle (22:38.465)
And it was all his fault. His ego and pride. He knows Spider Man.

AE (22:45.689)
Do you feel like do you feel like Matt Damon did a good job of showing his faults in that way? Because part of me, I don't it's I don't because it's Matt Damon, I was still rooting for Matt Damon. Like I said, like I still like this guy. Like, even though I knew it was his fault, and even after him messing with Cyclops, and that was my biggest issue, even after the first movie, I was like, why in the world?

Would you shoot an arrow or do whatever to Cyclops after your whole team made it out? What are you doing? But even after all that, I was still rooting for him. So do you think that's because Matt Damon just did a good job or he Matt Damon just seemed like a just unlikable character in most of his movies? Or do you feel like that just speaks to the complexity of the character?

Tonee Earle (23:32.353)
I think Matt Damon did a good job, but the I I think it also speaks to the complexity of the character. We're un we're un one, while we're going through this movie, we are seeing him struggle with guilt. We're we're seeing him struggle with you know, getting back home and and losing, you know, his people and tr figuring out if his choices of past w were good choices. But at the same time

He's just this really likable guy. Like all his people respect him. He and he r and he really is trying to defy the gods. Like he for for a good reason. Like for a good reason, he's trying to defy the gods. So I just think the the character and I think Matt Damon did a really good job at playing the character. But I really do feel like the character that Christopher Nolan created.

LaToya (24:05.678)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (24:13.718)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Tonee Earle (24:27.373)
is very likable. You you wanna root for them because inste because the pride and ego that I think led Odysseus in the in the version of the book that I read, it it didn't show up in this character.

AE (24:30.563)
Yeah.

LaToya (24:37.848)
Mm-hmm. Yeah, I think that in the, I feel like in the movie he got off easier, Odysseus. And I guess when you think about the Odyssey, it's sort of like this tale of like, or this, you're dealing with this issue of fate versus accountability.

AE (24:47.137)
Tonee Earle (25:04.42)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (25:05.25)
How often do people call something fate when it's actually like the accumulated consequences of their decisions? Like everything that Odysseus and his men encountered was like the result of all of those things. But it's like, was it his destiny ultimately to go through it this kind of what, this 10 year or however many year journey home?

Tonee Earle (25:12.185)
Mm-hmm.

AE (25:12.665)
Hmm. Hmm.

Tonee Earle (25:15.29)
Mm.

AE (25:16.877)
Yeah.

AE (25:33.441)
Mm.

LaToya (25:35.054)
I don't know. there was a straight line and like, he sort of chose this wavering path. So there's that. But yeah, he's likable, but not as likable or not as many reasons to like him, I would say, in the book than in the movie, would say.

AE (25:37.794)
Yeah.

Tonee Earle (25:38.084)
Right.

AE (25:43.117)
Yeah yeah

No, that's real. Yeah.

Tonee Earle (25:54.97)
For sure. For sure.

AE (25:56.751)
Now you guys you guys bring up a great point. And I one of my questions I had about Christopher Nolan's direction was that that he didn't depict gods as gods. Like there there were mythical creatures. Obviously, Cyclops was a mythical creature and the huge giants, but we didn't see Zeus or Hovind, or we didn't see Poseidon. We saw Calypso, but she was in human form. We saw Athena.

But she was Zendaya, who was just a representation of somebody who Odysseus saw at Troy. It wasn't like actually Athena. And one thing that stuck out to me that Odysseus said to Calypso, when he was telling the tale of his men, I think it was af either after they ate the animals on on the the gods island. Again, we didn't see that god either. He said when they were on the sea, they were convinced.

That it was the gods who were punishing them. And I wonder if Christopher Nolan decided not to depict gods, because what if he was trying to make a point that sometimes our our suffering is is self-caused, but we want to blame a higher being. Kind of kinda s something like along the lines of what you guys are saying, whereas like, is it my own guilt that's causing this suffering? Or is it legitimately the gods who are angry at me? Cause the way

LaToya (27:20.014)
Mm-hmm.

AE (27:21.972)
Odysseus framed that that that statement really stuck out to me. It's like they were convinced that they were being punished. He didn't say that the gods were punishing them. He said they were convinced, like they were creating their own suffering, and I had to deal with my men going crazy because they thought there was something going wrong. And I don't believe that it was a gods. It was just I had to deal with their own tor the creation of their own torment. Did you guys see that too or no?

Tonee Earle (27:46.884)
Hm. Mm. I mean, I I feel like I ch I challenge a little bit your statement that he didn't depict the gods. I think he depict the gods in the same sense that we view the gods. I think we view God as wind and and rain and thunder and lightning and storms. And I think we we see we receive discernment and visions through

AE (27:55.418)
Mm.

LaToya (28:05.454)
Thank

Tonee Earle (28:10.978)
you know, the everyday people we meet in our lives similar to Zendaya's character. So I think his depiction of the gods is the most common depiction of God that we know, that we are used to already. We we wha have you ever seen God? I mean

LaToya (28:13.038)
Mm-hmm.

AE (28:27.266)
I know, but but real quick, but but if but in comparison to the book, the book depicts the gods. Like the gods are having conversation. There's scenes set in the book of Zeus talking to Minerva and Minerva forming into whatever and and the gods are having conversations and meetings and powwows and laughing and joking.

Tonee Earle (28:44.856)
I mean similar to like similar to like the angels and Satan coming up to God's realm to pick on Job, right? Like we don't ever really s for sure, for sure.

LaToya (28:52.664)
Mm-hmm.

AE (28:54.094)
But I could visualize that. There's a there's a there's a there's a picture being painted. I feel like Christopher Nolan said, I don't want to paint that picture. I don't wanna I don't wanna form my identity of what Zeus looks like. Cause or 'cause in the odd in the book, the book says Zeus was saying this, and Zeus went over there, and then Minerva went over there. And Christopher Nolan could have easy I don't know. Christopher Nolan could have decided, he could have chose. I'd say the same way again, back to like our alien conversation, like

Tonee Earle (29:12.888)
But what does Zeus look like in the book? Exactly.

AE (29:22.488)
The same way Steven Spielberg decided I choose aliens to look like this, and I'm gonna put this on screen. Christopher Nolan said, I'm not even gonna try to depict how Zeus I think Zeus looks. I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with that. I'm not saying anything wrong with that. I just find it interesting that he didn't even take that risk.

LaToya (29:27.853)
You

Tonee Earle (29:36.468)
I think he I no yeah, yeah.

Yeah, 'cause I think he wanted the depiction to be whatever we thought it would be.

I mean I I really cause especially when Zendaya said when when Odysseus is like, why can't you gods ever speak in a language that people understand? The first thing Zendaya said, who doesn't understand pain? The gods are always connecting with us. We don't listen. We don't pause long enough to hear. We don't pause long enough to see, you know? And I think that I I thought that was just such a beautiful kind of twist in the movie because I I too, I get your point. Like I too was like, huh, I wonder what

LaToya (29:47.021)
yet.

LaToya (29:58.649)
Mm-hmm.

AE (30:03.13)
To hear

Tonee Earle (30:15.042)
Zeus and and Poseidon are gonna look like and Apollo are gonna look like. But I thought the movie did a just a really good job of giving us the idea of what they look like without even showing us what they thought what he thought they looked like.

LaToya (30:28.366)
Yeah, I think that there were so many other things depicted on screen that like, like Zeus, the depiction of Zeus would have needed to be so elaborate or so over the top. I mean, we got, the movie is 173 minutes. It's also just like, there's only so much that we can see or do. But like, I feel like it almost would have felt like overkill. So I think I appreciated like,

AE (30:40.58)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah.

LaToya (30:57.65)
this this God is stirring up the sea. this guy told these folks if they ate these animals, they was going to not they wasn't gonna make it. Like, it's just so yeah, you know, everybody doesn't need to be. I just I don't because I was just like, Zeus is going to have to be like so attractive or so stunning or so like.

AE (30:57.658)
Mm-hmm.

AE (31:01.486)
Yeah.

AE (31:12.065)
It facts.

AE (31:23.748)
Yeah.

LaToya (31:26.282)
unassuming, know, like some kind of like simple looking, the Yoda kind of thing. And I'm like, I also don't want that. You know what I mean? So I think I appreciate it's just sort of like being able to like imagine like Zeus or God like for myself and then just but I was very aware that God was present. The gods were present with them and wreaking havoc on them. So.

AE (31:27.268)
Simple, yeah, yeah. Mm-hmm.

Right, right.

Tonee Earle (31:41.497)
Yeah.

AE (31:46.986)
AE (31:50.83)
Yeah.

That's real. Another question. Would you personally follow Odysseus? There was a scene in there that was very interesting to me. When they were on this the the island when that lady turned them into pigs and they wanted to go off on their own. And it's so because of rightfully so, right? After a while, they were like, yo, you've been bugging out. Every island we've been on, we lost like 15 men now. Somebody, we gotta try something different here. We gotta swish it up.

And then they go off on their own and they get turned into pigs, and then Odysseus has to save them again. It felt like the Thanos line where it's like you couldn't live with your own failure. And where has that brought you right back to be? It's like the men had to be like, damn, I gotta really follow this nigga. Like I have no choice. I tried on my own and it didn't work out. What do you what do you think that is? Whereas like, even though we're dying and suffering, you're you're still our best bet. How how do you how would you how would you handle that?

LaToya (32:39.534)
Yeah.

Tonee Earle (32:56.954)
I feel like one I'm still not following Odysseus. I would have been like, let me get on the other ship with Agamemnon. I'm not I'm gonna keep following Agamemnon until we get home, bro. I would not have kept following Od The moment the moment he leads me into a giant's cave, regardless of what he do to the giant after that, but the fact that he led me in is talking about, it's free cheese. Nah.

AE (33:01.928)
Yeah.

You gotta

AE (33:19.832)
Yeah.

Tonee Earle (33:25.624)
That's not a leader I can trust. I can't. And honestly, I really did love the scene with the pigs because what she said when they left was you can't save you your men from themselves. He's like, I'll defy the gods, but you can't save them from themselves. They're gonna make the decisions they're gonna make. And at the end of the day, all those men fought a war and raped and pillaged and did all of these things, not for the love of their country.

AE (33:31.982)
Mm-hmm.

AE (33:51.31)
Yeah.

LaToya (33:51.534)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (33:54.394)
They did that, that's what they wanted to do.

LaToya (33:56.911)
I mean, they were the animals that she turned them into. right.

Tonee Earle (34:00.308)
Exactly. And she said, Go back into your disguises

AE (34:01.999)
Yeah. Go back to your disguises. That was crazy, son. That was crazy.

LaToya (34:10.978)
Yeah, I wouldn't have followed him. I'm not a follower. You get one time to lead me wrong. And then I'm picking up the map. I'm picking up the map myself. like, I always got my own map quest going on my own phone. Like, no, you get one time to get us lost. And then it's a wrap. I'm going to keep something in my back pocket.

AE (34:17.962)
Yeah.

Tonee Earle (34:18.294)
Only in Jesus Christ. Exactly. Exactly.

AE (34:21.686)
my gosh.

Tonee Earle (34:26.562)
Exactly.

AE (34:27.311)
Mm-hmm. And that is over. Man. Sheesh. I cool. All right, let's let's move to Odysseus's rib. His queen. Penelope. Would you wait for Odysseus for 17 years? How long was it? Was it 18? 19 years? Seven, thirteen, twenty years?

Tonee Earle (34:31.37)
Exactly.

LaToya (34:42.72)
Lady Penelope.

Tonee Earle (34:51.298)
It was twenty years. I think it was twenty years. Something like that. It was almost two decades. Yeah, he was he's a kid.

LaToya (34:55.032)
Cause he was a baby, when the kid was a child.

AE (34:57.327)
Right here's the ears of baby. Yeah, yeah. Are babe, are you waiting for me for twenty years? Answer. Go.

Tonee Earle (35:02.998)
If if the s stakes were the same, sure, sure, sure. If it was a matter of we could if it was a matter of we could lose the throne to Ithaca, sure, sure. otherwise that's a long time. It's a long time and I don't know you're alive. That's a long time and I don't know you're alive. And you told me not to wait for you.

AE (35:05.184)
If that's crazy. Starting with if is crazy.

AE (35:20.013)
You would have married Robert Patterson? That's crazy.

LaToya (35:28.372)
Yeah, you dare say.

AE (35:29.197)
It's one of those things where it's like, yeah, I say that, but you supposed to like you're supposed to be rather dying. That that that's exactly what Odysseus did. Odysseus knew. Odysseus would have been mad as hell if he came back and Robert Patterson was drinking a Kool-Aid in the in the kitchen. Like if

LaToya (35:38.124)
You better say what you mean! You better say what you mean!

Tonee Earle (35:46.826)
maybe after five maybe after five or ten years, I'd probably wait like five or ten years, 'cause I war war is gonna take a time. About fifteen years I'm gonna be like, All right, bruh. I don't think he got me back.

AE (35:53.593)
Right, right.

AE (35:59.1)
It's over. He dead.

Tonee Earle (36:01.56)
I think I think I gotta move on.

AE (36:04.667)
What about you, Lar?

LaToya (36:04.782)
Yeah, I mean, essentially Odysseus was like the guy who texted, I'm on my way and he came back 10 years later. He left to give milk.

AE (36:15.099)
Mm, he he left to get milk. He left to get milk and never came back.

LaToya (36:21.976)
So I'm going to say no as well. I'm not waiting. I don't know that I would have wanted them suitors, some of those suitors that was trying to step to her either. But no. And then again, had I known what he was out there doing and the foolishness and just sort of like, I mean.

AE (36:28.224)
Mm-hmm. That's weird.

LaToya (36:49.934)
Obviously she loved him and he didn't make his way back, but like, no, I wouldn't have waited.

AE (36:57.465)
Yeah. How do you think she felt I don't know if the movie depicted this, but how do you think she felt when she found out that her husband was the men of the sea? Like she like her husband was the man that she was fearing this whole time. Cause that was the whole point. She was like, yo, these men are coming, we gotta figure out who's gonna take the throne, yada yada yada. I don't know if the movie actually said or like revealed that she figured out it was them. How'd you feel like it it was your man's? He told her, okay. And that was all forgiven, and now it's like it's all good.

Tonee Earle (37:19.714)
Yeah, he told her. He told her.

Tonee Earle (37:26.978)
I think it's one of those things where Penelope could quickly understand the guilt that he was feeling and that like when she understood truly what the story of the Trojan horse meant to him, she knew it wasn't that he was just this evil man. She knew he wanted to get back to her. And it was like, We have to win this war. They're gonna be sitting on that beach

LaToya (37:43.597)
Yeah.

Tonee Earle (37:50.252)
Until they won that war and so he was desperate and and in his desperation it caused the end of Zeus's law. But that's not something he wanted to happen.

LaToya (38:01.401)
Mm-hmm.

AE (38:06.767)
La anything.

LaToya (38:08.258)
Yeah, I'm just, I'm not waiting around.

I I think, honestly think Penelope deserves payback or back pay for like all of that emotional suffering for the years that she waited and dealt with all of the foolishness, you know. But she loved her man when you love your man. You are right or die.

AE (38:36.067)
Yeah. Right. Speaking of suffering, yeah. Good, no, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead.

Tonee Earle (38:36.25)
She loved her name.

What did y'all think of the sorry. I was gonna ask, what did y'all think of the monologue between Penelope and Telemachus when he was basically saying, he she needs to take a suitor and she's and so or so he can take the throne and she's like, Why? 'Cause only a man can sit on that throne? What did you guys think of that?

AE (39:03.259)
I thought it great. I think they I think that that allowed them to first of all Tom Holland and and Hathaway and Anne Hathaway to show off and get in their bag. That was really good. But I I think I think that's a that's a normal son and mom talk. A son coming into his own, trying to become a man, and the mom still seeing him as the baby boy and feeling like he's not ready.

LaToya (39:11.352)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (39:13.517)
Yeah.

AE (39:30.256)
And that's why I love the the next thing Tom Holland did was like, all right, I gotta go. I'm gonna go take my ship and dip. Cause at some point, you gotta stop asking for permission and just do what you right, right. And and and and that's the thing, like Ann Hathor was also justified. My man's can shoot an arrow through 17 axes. You can't do that. I see what my man's can do. You still a little boy.

Tonee Earle (39:40.058)
True, but he was gonna be dead if his dad hadn't came back.

LaToya (39:48.728)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (39:56.044)
Right.

AE (39:59.278)
It's hard. Like it's hard to see her little baby boy as someone who's capable of doing his thing. So she has no faith in him. She loves him. She wants to take care of him. She still feels like she needs to be his protector. So there's no way she was gonna see Pasta, especially with Odysseus not being in the home. And Telemachus is like, yo, you gotta give me a chance. You gotta give me some room. Telamundo, Telamundo was

LaToya (40:10.722)
Yeah.

LaToya (40:20.642)
You said his name differently three times.

Tonee Earle (40:23.204)
Bro, bro, these names, these names be messing him up. Messing him up.

LaToya (40:26.776)
telematics telep- telemetry telepathy

AE (40:32.783)
It's a hard day, man. These these Greeks and their names, man. Rubus groups. Nah, but yeah.

LaToya (40:36.046)
Telemachus, Telemachus. Thank you.

Tonee Earle (40:37.22)
Telemachus.

LaToya (40:42.552)
But I mean, right. It's like, you know, I mean, I'm glad that we're having the conversation about Penelope because, you know, so often in the story we do celebrate, you know, Odysseus traveling the world. But, you know, what about Penelope, the, you know, the person who like maintained this home and parented this kid and is surviving the uncertainty of, you know.

Tonee Earle (40:43.0)
He done say Odyssey's name t too many times too, but it's okay. We won't give you a pass.

AE (40:46.565)
True.

LaToya (41:10.252)
what is going on in the world, what's going on with her husband, all this kind of stuff. I think that... Also, her son, Telemachus, got beat up. So, like, he was not ready. Them suitors would have killed him. Like, he would have got... Because he got got, you know what I mean? So, like, he just didn't die. So, She knew... I think she knew that she probably was... Probably was stronger than him, just... And could, like, withstand...

AE (41:20.891)
True. Yeah.

Tonee Earle (41:22.488)
He stayed in trouble. Right.

AE (41:24.673)
Yeah, they were gonna clip him, yeah. Yeah.

LaToya (41:40.099)
you know, the heat of a new suit or taking the throne like in her own way, probably with more ease than him. But I also appreciate that he was like, I gotta go find my dad. Like I gotta go find out or what happened to him. you know, I've heard all of these things about this man. Like I need to, you know, I've been learning how to fight like him and all this kind of stuff. Like I have to go figure out like what happened with him. So.

AE (41:56.089)
Yeah.

AE (42:05.084)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (42:10.414)
like, go on your journey. I don't, I think if Odysseus had not come home, I don't think he would have got the throne either. yeah.

AE (42:17.734)
It would have been yeah.

AE (42:21.626)
Right. And I think Tom Holland did a good job of playing a kid who's still figuring himself out. I I didn't see this but a lot of I I saw something where people was like mad about Tom Holland's acting or they felt like he was annoying. I was like, Yeah, he's supposed to be annoying 'cause you want him to like, yo, man up, man, like do what you gotta do. But he's a eighteen year old kid who doesn't know his dad and they these got these grown men bullying him around like

He depicted that very well. He did a good job of showing what the and the book depicted him that the exact same way. This I was reading the book and I was getting mad at Telemach. I like, come on, son, like get it together. But he's an eighteen year old kid figuring it out. So I think to to get mad at Tom Hollands or to critique his acting is weird because he did what he was supposed to do. Like he actually killed it. He actually killed for portraying that role. Yeah. Agamemnon's wife.

Tonee Earle (42:49.848)
Yeah.

LaToya (42:55.213)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (43:08.728)
Mm-hmm.

AE (43:18.512)
Would you be killing him as well? Or would you No, it wasn't Hello Troy. It was his no no, his wife. The Hello Troy was Agamemnon's wife's sister. Yeah. His sister. Yeah, I l it's it's it's the Lupita and the one go. But I don't know I Yeah, that's her name? yeah, yeah. Are are you clipping are you clipping your husband when he gets back? Or are you gonna be like, you know what, we'll we'll get another daughter. We'll get another daughter.

Tonee Earle (43:19.564)
Helen of Troy.

LaToya (43:21.238)
Right.

Tonee Earle (43:25.299)
you're right, you're right. His sister, is her sister.

Climestr Climestra.

LaToya (43:32.878)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (43:35.097)
Clyde Minstra.

Tonee Earle (43:39.856)
yeah.

LaToya (43:41.184)
You killed my baby to give you help, give you favor. Have you lost?

Tonee Earle (43:42.949)
you it's clipped. It's clipped. He's lucky he went out the way he did, bro. She she gave she gave him a spa day before she took his life.

LaToya (43:49.55)
Where's the chopper? Right. Right.

AE (43:51.64)
Ha ha ha!

AE (43:57.133)
Yo Yo, not for like not to win the war, not to like gain strength, he did it for for for light rain, for chance sunny with a chance of rain. Like he he did it for the weather channel, bro. That's crazy.

LaToya (44:00.267)
immediately.

LaToya (44:13.218)
Let me tell you, the chopper immediately. Goodbye. Goodbye.

AE (44:16.892)
Tonee Earle (44:17.867)
And I probably wouldn't have let him off so quick. I probably would have like mutilated him first. It would have been a slow death.

AE (44:23.324)
Mm. Slow death. Slow death. Yeah. I didn't understand how he thought that he'll be able to like come back home and be chillin'. I I that part always blows my mind. Like ain't nowhere you thought you were gonna be safe after you just killed in front of her. Right in front of you just threw off a cliff right in front of her. It's crazy.

Tonee Earle (44:37.932)
And she never forgot. She never forgot. She d she never forgave. She was waiting for the day that he returned.

LaToya (44:44.61)
Mm-hmm.

AE (44:45.902)
Yeah. Roughly so. All right, so to end off Odyssey, favorite scene, go. Favorite scene. Favorite, sorry, save favorite scene, and who would you give best actor or actress to? You are the Oscar, you you are the the the deciding vote in the Odyssey you will give out best most outstanding actor or actress.

Tonee Earle (44:59.93)
Mm.

Tonee Earle (45:11.45)
Good question. I think my favorite scene is definitely the pig scene. That scene. I can't even get that joint out of my head. that was a good scene. as far as best actor, I'm not gonna lie. Robert Pattinson has really shown me his range as of late. Like, I for the longest time I could not forgive him for.

AE (45:18.054)
Ha ha ha.

Tonee Earle (45:40.066)
the atrocities he committed in playing Edward Cullen. And it didn't matter what he was in. All I could see was Edward Cullen. And so now he is really getting in his bag. And I r he I found his character really enjoyful. Like it was this mean bully that really ain't sh like just

LaToya (45:44.536)
Mm-hmm.

AE (45:44.728)
Ha ha ha.

AE (46:00.324)
Mm.

AE (46:06.404)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (46:07.274)
A scare a true scary kept say kept saying, Get get the swords. Get the spears. That scene, bro. Get these baggers out of here. Yo, he he was hilarious I feel like I'd probably give it to him just because his role really I mean, not to take away from Anne Hathaway. I think she did a really good job, but Anne Hathaway has already been giving her flowers. I don't think

AE (46:10.107)
Yeah.

Yeah, get s yeah, get the shield my gosh. A coward

AE (46:20.474)
Get these beggars out of here.

AE (46:25.828)
Mm.

Tonee Earle (46:34.52)
I don't think this role set her apart from other roles I've seen her do. But for Robert Pattinson, I think he probably won my support by this film because I'm just like, wow, he really does have range.

AE (46:37.604)
Mm.

LaToya (46:44.046)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (46:47.95)
I am gonna go with the scene where the, I don't know if it's like a death island or whatever, but it's like when the blood, yeah, when the Haiti scene. And I'm typically not, like I began scared and the blood of Jesus and all kinds of stuff was seen like that. But I was like really drawn into that scene and I appreciated, I would say, silent but deadly.

Tonee Earle (46:56.78)
Hades? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

AE (46:59.076)
Mm.

AE (47:04.591)
Right, right, right.

LaToya (47:17.09)
character for me is going to be Elliot Page. And I appreciated how their story arch was like the dagger in the end for Robert Pattinson or whatever. It's like, you know. Yeah. So I'm going to go with that scene, the Haiti scene.

AE (47:21.508)
Mm.

AE (47:30.14)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.

AE (47:37.307)
Nice. Love it. My favorite scene was when Agamemnon was just so w that scene when Agamemnon came into Troy. Odysseus and I forgot John Berthall had to hold off. At the after they came up the Trojan horse, they had to hold off, yeah, the the the front of the gate. And they were like trying to like take off that the huge lock. It was one very specific moment.

Tonee Earle (47:56.587)
Minalause.

AE (48:07.288)
I I think it's just a great dark directorial choice. they get to the front of the gate, Odysseus goes up to the wall and drops like either like a fire or a lamp. It's pitch black. He drops the fire of the lamp and you see the whole army standing behind the gate. Such a and it was so quick too, but it was so fire. And then he opens the gate finally and the Agamomnal just walks through with the big old black fire, man. I love that. Cause it's a my thing is it's a war movie at the end of the day.

LaToya (48:20.686)
Mm-hmm. Yep.

AE (48:37.232)
When when I watch war movies, I wanna see that stuff. I wanna see guts and and and war and people s running and screaming and shooting arrows and swords. So I feel like that that scene was really cool. And I'll give it to Tom Holland for all the reasons I said earlier. Like I think he did a great job of of depicting that that that that character. And and also in relation to Matt Damon, I thought it was very like metaphorical in terms of Tom Holland is an up and coming actor.

In comparison to Matt Damon, who who who solidified and who's very experienced. So I think it was a good representation of them in their real lives. It's almost like passing the torch in real life as well. Whereas like Tom Holland and also Robert Patterson, they're the next generation. They are the A-less actors now. Along with Zendaya, they're in all the movies. It's a reason for that. And I feel like Tom Holland depicting not only Telemundo and also his own personal acting journey.

LaToya (49:14.958)
Mm-hmm.

AE (49:35.246)
Is that he's coming into his own. He's figuring out his path. And he will have to make start making hard decisions in his life.

LaToya (49:43.852)
Yeah, would say also shout out to John Leguizamo. I thought that he did a phenomenal job. And it was like, I wouldn't have imagined him in this kind of film. So that felt like, it's like, okay, this is cool. Okay.

AE (49:49.818)
Mm-hmm. Yes, he did.

Tonee Earle (49:58.005)
Yeah, although although a lot of people hated him for throwing those puppies off that cliff. No, but but he was doing the task of throwing all the puppies off the cliff.

AE (49:58.098)
Yeah.

LaToya (50:02.871)
Yeah.

AE (50:03.483)
It was just one puppy. It was one puppy. If it was what? He was ready, yeah.

It's yo, a lot. That's what's crazy. Somebody we was talking to somebody about the Odyssey and the person had didn't see it yet. And she was like, I'm gonna see it, but I heard there was some like child abuse like and like some tough moments in the movie. Like, was there any child abuse? And me and Tony was like, What are you talking about? We couldn't for the life of us but what she was talking about until we recognized it was a scene where he he threw his d Agamemnon threw his daughter off the cliff.

LaToya (50:16.131)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (50:30.595)
We could not think of what they were talking about.

LaToya (50:40.206)
okay.

AE (50:42.085)
And I was like, I find it interesting. I'm usually on the other side of like PETA and stuff like that because I'm like, what about the children? But I'm like, nobody talked about the nobody talked about the dogs. No, nobody thought it was too much to throw off the dog. They didn't even show him throwing the daughter off the cliff. They just showed him walking to the cliff. Yeah. But she was so concerned that I heard there was like some tough scenes with with children. I was like, did any children like how how couldn't it?

Tonee Earle (50:55.265)
You exactly. All you see is this little puppy just whoop.

Tonee Earle (51:06.425)
I forgot there was a child in the scene.

AE (51:08.281)
Yeah, I forgot about that. Cause they didn't show it. It was just depicted. So I was wondering why, but I don't I find that funny. All right. It is Spider-Man time. Spider-Man. Spider-Man. What's this? What's the new home? What's it what's the what's the tagline for this? Brand brand new day. I was thinking of the homes. Brand new home. Brand new home.

LaToya (51:17.998)
Hehehehehe

LaToya (51:23.832)
Brand new day, brand new day, brand new day.

Tonee Earle (51:24.035)
Brand new brand new day.

Tonee Earle (51:30.058)
Not new home is crazy.

LaToya (51:31.598)
Brand new day. Brand new day. Brand new day.

AE (51:35.694)
homecoming all right, ho housewarming. All right. Where does this Spider Man rank among the Spider Man movies to you?

Tonee Earle (51:43.871)
Just just the Tom Holland Spider Man movies?

AE (51:46.725)
Just a Tom Holland Spider Man movie.

AE (51:53.211)
And they will they will do overall. Go ahead.

LaToya (51:55.182)
I... I...

I ranked it the highest of the three in this one. That's just me.

AE (52:04.165)
Hmm.

Tonee Earle (52:06.615)
I put it in second place. I think it's far from home. No, I think it's no way home.

Tonee Earle (52:18.413)
Brand new day.

Far from home.

Tonee Earle (52:28.929)
That's I'm thinking. I think it's second place.

AE (52:38.683)
I feel like it's middle of the pack for me. I would go homecoming.

AE (52:51.015)
Far from home, brand new day, then no way home.

Tonee Earle (52:55.609)
Homecoming would probably be last for me because I actually forgot about that.

AE (52:59.537)
Because it was fur, it was right. I think it's out of sight, out of mind type thing. It was so far away. Yeah, she was. She wasn't.

Tonee Earle (53:00.449)
Yeah.

Tonee Earle (53:04.075)
Zendea wasn't in that movie, so it don't really matter. It don't really count. She she wasn't MJ though. Like she was MJ but like she wasn't really relevant in that movie. It was the other girl, the other black girl with the evil father.

AE (53:12.157)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (53:12.942)
Yeah.

AE (53:14.769)
Hmm. right, yeah, yeah, he was he was yeah, he was over yeah, that's true.

Tonee Earle (53:19.799)
That movie didn't do it for me 'cause it just felt like they didn't really know what they wanted to do with the Spider Man arc.

AE (53:26.013)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (53:27.097)
So that movie's probably in last place.

LaToya (53:27.694)
Yeah, and I didn't even include that in the ratings of my rankings for this one.

AE (53:32.273)
Dang. I think we gotta you gotta watch it again. And

LaToya (53:34.946)
Yeah, not that I thought it was bad, but like I was I wasn't thinking about it when we were.

Tonee Earle (53:36.973)
Yeah.

AE (53:38.749)
Mm-hmm.

And I'm I guess I'll get into it now. I'm gonna tell you why. I feel like Tom Holland, I like Tom Holland Spider-Man, but I feel like he was done a disservice when he was introduced to us in the midst of the height of the Avengers. Mind you, the first time we saw Tom Holland Spider-Man was when Iron Man introduced him in Civil War. Next to Black Panther, Captain America, Bucky, Falcon, he was whooping at, he was going crazy.

LaToya (53:52.792)
Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

LaToya (54:02.702)
Mm-hmm.

AE (54:11.601)
So once you start that once you're in that world, you now have to s and then you get solo movies. It's like, bro, where's where's Iron Man at? And then that's what kinda happened. Like I feel like in all these movies, he's had to share the light with a lot of big characters.

LaToya (54:25.046)
Yeah, yeah, I was going to say that's been some of the critique of this is like you don't get a standalone Spider-Man movie. It's like Spider-Man and the Hulk, Spider-Man and the, what's the guy's, well, Jean Grey, Spider-Man and, was it The Punisher? What's the guy's name? Not The Punisher. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yeah, so, yeah, I definitely understand.

AE (54:31.067)
Mm-hmm.

AE (54:39.855)
Yeah, yeah.

AE (54:43.889)
The pun yeah John Bertha, yeah.

Tonee Earle (54:43.915)
Yeah, John Burnthal.

LaToya (54:52.482)
can agree with that, that he's not getting this.

AE (54:54.044)
Yeah.

Tonee Earle (54:54.573)
But Spider Man's not really I mean, I don't know, I guess in Homecoming he didn't have the Stark technology. But if we're being honest, how far was the kid gonna go without Stark technology? I don't think

AE (55:08.647)
See, but where did it where did that come from? Toby Maguire's we never said that about Toby Maguire. We never said that he needed stark technology.

Tonee Earle (55:14.125)
But that's 'cause he actually had webs shooting from his body.

AE (55:19.643)
But but Tom Holland was also very smart. So he I mean, just like the the middle the amazing Spider Man is my least favorite Spider Man, he had just he just had to invent it. He just had to create the webs. So why couldn't Tom Holland do the same thing? Why did this Spider Man have to be so dependent on Tony Stark to be this great? That's why Tony McGuire's the goat, low key. To me.

Tonee Earle (55:38.551)
I think be I I think it yeah, no, I would agree. And I think that was because of which MCU world he was placed in. Like he was placed in this universe where there are the Avengers.

LaToya (55:46.914)
Mm-hmm.

AE (55:52.093)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (55:54.379)
Yeah, so he's yeah, so I think he's he's he has to piggyback off of them. And I and I think again, he's a smart kid. He's in New York where the rest of the Avengers are staying. Like I think it just that's how it kinda had to go in there. I can't envision what type of movie would pique my interest that's f a fully Tom Holland Spider Man movie. Like what would they write that I would care about that wouldn't include anybody else?

LaToya (55:54.381)
Yeah.

AE (56:03.581)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (56:19.606)
Yeah, I, I, me myself personally, I would love to see a Spider-Man power crossover episode. I was on Instagram the other day and this person, they commented, said, Spider-Man lives in Queens, fights crime in Manhattan. As if Queens doesn't have crime. He needs to be in South side Jamaica battling Canaan ghosts, Tommy and Tariq.

AE (56:20.188)
That's so sad.

AE (56:27.133)
What?

Tonee Earle (56:43.461)
my gosh.

my gosh.

AE (56:48.399)
Yo.

LaToya (56:48.73)
These will be about the war on drugs. He be should be cleaning up

AE (56:53.201)
You know what's crazy? You know what's crazy? I'm such a ghost and Jay St. Patrick fan. I legitimately think he might give Spider-Man a rough for his money. Cause Ghost is smart, man. Ghost is smart. He know he knows how to to maneuver the situation. Yo. That's what I'm trying to say. Tommy don't give a damn about your webs. Tommy would've clipped him early. Like, I would see that. I would watch that. That's a good crossover.

Tonee Earle (56:54.649)
That's true.

LaToya (57:06.094)
Ghost is very smart. Ghost is very smart. Tommy woulda went to the head.

LaToya (57:21.994)
No, Tommy would have smashed up Zendaya. Tommy does not play.

AE (57:25.349)
Exactly.

AE (57:29.475)
If if you if he was willing to kill Angela right in front of Ghost, he would have dropped Zendaya off that and did he would have dropped dropped Zenday off that roof easily. Easily. man. Nah, facts. Facts. How did we feel about Sophia playing Jean Gray? What do you think about her performance? Sadie, Sadie Sink, Sadie Sink.

LaToya (57:31.864)
Correct. And did. And did. And did.

LaToya (57:42.318)
It would have been like the Odyssey again, just so bad.

Tonee Earle (57:56.099)
Sadie, Sadie Zinc.

AE (57:59.335)
Shout out to the Stranger Things.

Tonee Earle (58:01.461)
Right. I think she killed it. I think she killed it. And I and honestly, like shout out to the people who she was playing through them. Like I feel bad, I don't remember the black guy's name. But the black guy outside of Spider Man's apartment. He killed that. That short little scene, he killed that scene. He did such a good job.

LaToya (58:13.71)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.

LaToya (58:19.022)
Mm-hmm. yeah. Yeah.

AE (58:19.698)
Yeah. Yeah.

AE (58:25.446)
Fun fact, he's a British actor. He's not a man a black kid from from from Queens, which is bittersweet for me.

Tonee Earle (58:31.918)
You know they're low on those.

LaToya (58:34.958)
Well, Tom Holland is not from Queens either, it's like, and neither is Zendaya, so it is what it is. Yeah, I thought Sadie killed it. I thought she did a wonderful job. And I felt like that was a good like spin. Cause I was just like, what is happening here? Like I just, didn't know where they were leading us. Yeah, I thought she killed it.

Tonee Earle (58:37.386)
No he is not.

AE (58:37.79)
True. True.

LaToya (59:04.986)
I wish that they had gone into a little bit more about her sister and just like how she died or in custody or whatever. Because I kind of wanted her to avenge her death at this point. was like, at this point, these folks deserve what is coming to them. So yeah, but I thought that she did great.

AE (59:13.661)
Mm-hmm.

AE (59:22.706)
Right.

Tonee Earle (59:34.573)
Yeah. I thought she d I thought she was amazing. I I will say I I just feel like Gene Gray should have came out in Thunderbolts. I feel like why did you give me this new villainslash superhero that could essentially harm people in a similar way as Gene Gray? And then where is he? Where'd he go? You got Gene Gray taking people's bodies over.

LaToya (59:49.838)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (59:54.316)
Yeah.

AE (59:59.389)
Yeah, the d the dude from the number? Yeah.

LaToya (01:00:03.054)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (01:00:04.011)
And killing people. Where was he? I don't know.

AE (01:00:07.612)
And the resolve was the same. Like the answer is love. The answer is good mental health and forgiveness and kindness. It was like it was the same it I it was the same premise of like they had to get the villain to recognize that there's people who actually love you for him to calm down. It a basically the same thing with Jean Grey, like Tom Holland having to bring her into to into his dream with Aunt May and to know that it's okay.

Tonee Earle (01:00:15.657)
Exactly.

Tonee Earle (01:00:31.086)
And that that to me felt forced 'cause I'm like, why does this scene affect Jean Gray so much? She has no ties to Aunt May. She has it's it wasn't her aunt who who, you know, left her and her sister on the side of the road. It was her mother. I I don't know. I just felt like it was a it was a bit forced. I feel like Jean Gray's v should have came out in thunderbolts.

LaToya (01:00:57.294)
I

LaToya (01:01:00.696)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (01:01:01.429)
And they should have furthered the story into X Men world, maybe and he still could have been the person to create the device that calms, you know, Jean Grey already knowing that she she was out there. I don't know. But to me, it it felt like it felt like a a very I was like, I feel like I've seen this before, especially the way she was just taking over bodies. I was like, I don't know, I feel like I seen this before.

LaToya (01:01:24.376)
Mm-hmm.

AE (01:01:25.202)
Yeah.

LaToya (01:01:27.478)
Yeah, I mean, think Aunt May is this maternal figure who even to this day, I'm like, she should be here. ain't no reason why Aunt May should be gone. If we didn't snap our fingers and rub back, everybody else, why we can't bring back Aunt May?

AE (01:01:37.074)
Facts.

Tonee Earle (01:01:39.841)
It was inevitable.

AE (01:01:40.211)
Thanks.

Tonee Earle (01:01:43.223)
Uncle Ben got too?

AE (01:01:44.051)
You know and you know you know why? Because they needed to give this version of Spider Man some pain. First of all, we haven't s we didn't see Uncle Ben. Uncle Ben does not get talked about. And I feel like this is a cotton candy Spider Man. They needed to give Tom Holland some bruises. They needed to give him some pain. So they had to force this. They had to force it. They had to force it. Sorry, go ahead. Yeah.

LaToya (01:01:52.398)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (01:02:01.793)
and he got him. He got him. He got him. And obviously, in this one, you see what happens when Spider-Man is alone and nobody remembers him. And now, because of the loneliness that he's experiencing, because of the connections that are lost, now this spider in him is coming out or whatever. And so he's having to...

deal with that, where a web is trying to come out of his actual body. So yeah. Yeah. I it was

AE (01:02:42.34)
Yeah, I I did like the evolution. I did like him like having to figure it out. I just feel like it happened four movies too late. Like now he's experiencing all this trauma. You were in space fighting a nigga who snapped away half of the universe. Now you're going through puberty. If that if if you fighting him with Conda and with Black Panther and flying all over the place and watching the sky fall.

LaToya (01:02:56.098)
Okay.

AE (01:03:11.826)
Don't make you go through puberty. This is what triggers it. I I feel like it's just four movies so late.

LaToya (01:03:15.118)
Yeah. But I think triggered around like people that he loved, like this is like love and like actual relationships. You know what I mean? Like, think I hear you about the severity of being in this other universe and battling the baddest or whatever. But I think that like, he loved MJ like so much. He loved, Lord Jesus, I'm not forgetting the best friends, the other best friends.

Tonee Earle (01:03:41.248)
Ned.

LaToya (01:03:42.017)
Ned, yeah, like those are like his people and to like now not have those connections after having again like lost that experiences pain of like losing like his aunt and so it's like he really doesn't have like other human connections. His, he's put all of his energy into fighting crime and like at some point like that is, that's not enough. Like that's not, that's not giving him like ultimately like what he needs to like.

AE (01:03:42.76)
Yeah, yeah.

LaToya (01:04:11.168)
evolve into the man that he or spider or spider man that he's supposed to be.

AE (01:04:17.638)
Yeah. Sp Spider Boy Spider Boys to Spider Man.

Tonee Earle (01:04:20.205)
Know. I feel like I don't know. I still feel like they copped out because the level of maturity Spider-Man, I I think Spider-Man should have had by now, it was really missing. Because, okay, why is he always trying to suppress who he is? That's always the theme of these Spider-Mans. Tony Stark gave him the glasses, he gave the glasses to Magneto, right? Tony Stark gave him the suit.

LaToya (01:04:31.086)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (01:04:39.694)
Mm.

LaToya (01:04:47.054)
No.

AE (01:04:47.07)
Mmm Magdita.

Tonee Earle (01:04:50.124)
He he or not Magneto, but whoever the dude was, he gave it back. You know what I mean? Now he's getting these spidey, these major spidey senses, and instead of learning how to deal with them, he's trying to suppress them. He's I would think after you've traveled dimensions, learned about the multiverse, seen aliens, been on an alien ship, sacrifice again. The whole reason why MJ and Ned don't know who you are.

AE (01:04:51.644)
Give it back. He turned it down, yeah.

LaToya (01:04:52.59)
Thank

AE (01:05:03.772)
Mm-hmm.

AE (01:05:10.322)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (01:05:18.346)
Is because you were trying to get the world to forget who you were. Like all of this is you not dealing with the problems in front of you. Why have you not seen the pattern yet? I don't get why it's taking him four movies to s to realize. J just accept what is what is going on in your life, my guy. You cannot run from you've been disappeared for five years, for goodness sakes.

AE (01:05:23.186)
Forget. Mm-hmm.

AE (01:05:31.078)
Yeah.

Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

LaToya (01:05:43.426)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (01:05:44.234)
You would think you would be able to accept the way life is coming at you. But I mean, I get it. He's still young and this is his kind of like maturing hi hi even his ability to kind of get through the gene shows that he was able to mature. He's able to move past the fact that Aunt May has passed away. He's able to move back past the fact that his best friend and h in the love of his life will may never remember him again. But it just felt like, dude, this should have been an easy, you know.

AE (01:06:06.928)
Mm-hmm.

Tonee Earle (01:06:11.429)
battle to get through, especially with the mind. I just feel like it seemed very forced. And I do feel like they they make Tom Holland seem like this kind of like stupid, socially stupid guy. Like this guy who just can't can't live with his own kind of mistakes. So he gets into more hijinks that are just like, dude, you would have just been better off if you just allowed what happened to have happened. I don't know. That's how I feel.

LaToya (01:06:14.286)
Mm.

AE (01:06:25.2)
Hehehehehe.

LaToya (01:06:29.57)
Yeah.

AE (01:06:30.323)
Yeah.

LaToya (01:06:32.632)
Yeah.

Mm-hmm.

AE (01:06:36.798)
Yeah.

LaToya (01:06:37.934)
Yeah, I mean, think Peter Parker definitely needs therapy significantly more than he needs another supervillain. Like, needs like, you know, I also, you know, from a scientific perspective, his frontal lobe, at around the age that we think that he is, his frontal lobe is not fully developed. So I think some of his reactions align with likely how old he is at this time. So.

AE (01:06:53.395)
Yeah.

AE (01:06:58.696)
Yeah.

Tonee Earle (01:07:02.966)
Yeah. Yeah.

AE (01:07:04.915)
Yeah. I I I think it's a right. No, it's true. No facts. It's fact 'cause even Toby Maguire's Biden man, you felt his maturity from the first movie. Even his relation to Aunt May, even when he was going through like his rebellious stage, when Uncle Ben died, you f you felt that this Peter Parker was mature enough to handle that and still take care of Aunt May and still take care of

LaToya (01:07:05.838)
And with great power comes great responsibility.

Tonee Earle (01:07:09.068)
Thank you, Uncle Ben.

LaToya (01:07:18.67)
Mmm.

LaToya (01:07:33.774)
Mm-hmm.

AE (01:07:34.16)
MJ and still fight Green Goblin and still fight that there was a majority of like, now he got this. With with this Peter Parker with Tom Holland, it's like, I don't know, bro. Like, do you know what you doing for real? Like, you good you need some help? You might need to hit up Ned and you wanna call he always say like, we're Iron Man now. Yeah, you you wanna need to call Punisher, you need to call John Bertha, because I don't know if you could really handle that. And and they were both in

LaToya (01:07:36.558)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (01:07:45.505)
you

Right? Yes. Yes, he does.

AE (01:07:58.964)
I Toby Mugai was an older actor, but like they were both supposed to be in high school. They were supposed to be around the same age. But there is this like baby facation or infant infantilization of this Spider-Man that yeah, it's like, all right now, man. Now it's time. Again, same thing with Telamarius. Like, be a band. It's time. It's time now. Like, come on. Take up reign. Be be king.

LaToya (01:08:02.511)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (01:08:09.262)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (01:08:20.856)
Hehehehehe

Tonee Earle (01:08:24.514)
For those who who who don't know who he's talking about, he's talking about Telemachus.

LaToya (01:08:28.916)
Right. Also played by Tom Holland.

AE (01:08:29.311)
Also played by Tom Polly.

Tonee Earle (01:08:33.183)
Yes, aka Telemundo.

LaToya (01:08:36.717)
Right?

AE (01:08:37.535)
Telescope, yeah. But yeah. we g we can end up with the same thing. favorite scene and who would you give best actor or actress to at the Oscars?

LaToya (01:08:40.812)
Yes.

LaToya (01:08:59.31)
I liked when...

Jean Grey took over Zendaya, or took over MJ. And so like, it's her and Spider-Man kiss. And then she like reveals herself and all this kind of stuff. And I was like, this is so evil. Like, why would you do this? But, yeah. Like I was like, like, okay. This was good.

AE (01:09:28.029)
Zenday was acting her ass off in that one too in that scene. That was great acting, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

LaToya (01:09:35.32)
So I would have, that's a scene that I felt like. I was like, okay, I like.

AE (01:09:41.469)
So who would be who you are you giving best actress to Zendaya? Mm.

LaToya (01:09:43.266)
So Zendaya

Tonee Earle (01:09:48.312)
let's see. I think I my favorite scene was when Jean Gray is controlling like damage control and she has control of like all of the that part of New York and she asks Spider Man who are you gonna be Peter Spider? And I kind of predicted him saying b both. and then he just like went off. That was probably my favorite scene.

LaToya (01:10:04.014)
Mm-hmm.

AE (01:10:08.991)
Mm both

LaToya (01:10:10.402)
Both!

You

AE (01:10:15.007)
Yeah.

Tonee Earle (01:10:18.009)
and I'm gonna give it to Sadie Sink. I really think you know, I I I think Sadie Sink played her a little butt off in Stranger Things, especially those later seasons. And so she has really gotten a hold of playing some type of demonic character. And I think she does a really good job at that. So I would give it to her.

AE (01:10:22.623)
Mm-hmm.

AE (01:10:29.277)
Mm-hmm.

AE (01:10:38.291)
Mm-hmm.

AE (01:10:42.547)
Yeah, you saw my answer. My my outstanding actress would definitely be Sadie Sink. Sadie Sink to Stranger Things is what Ariana Grande is to Victorious. Where it's like they weren't the star of the show, but they were clearly the most talented. And I think it's a safe thing with Sadie Sink is Stranger Things. I yo shout out to Shorty from Stranger Things for 11. But I'm not Russia to know the Bobby Ba. She

Tonee Earle (01:10:54.457)
Hm.

LaToya (01:10:58.818)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (01:11:04.878)
Yep.

Tonee Earle (01:11:06.135)
Millie Bobby Brown.

AE (01:11:09.651)
She's dope in Stranger Things. I'm not rushing to no theater to see her in another movie. But Sadie Sink, I want to see her. She's gonna be paid forever, man. You know how much movie Jean Grey movies she could play in? And and I you could again, you could tell that talent from Stranger Things. Same thing with Ariana Grande. The moment Ariana Grande sang on Victorious, I was like, she's about to surpass all these people. Like, she's clearly way more talented, even though she's not the star of the show. So Sadie Sadie Sink has the world in.

I there's a lot of good scenes I liked in there. I I I it's funny as we were talking about Tom Holland like coming into his own. I think the the the the montage of him when nobody knew him and he was just working, I thought that was dope. I I I like that month. Those were my favorite like scenes of showing him just at work, just fighting crime, working with homegirl from the beer, who was who was the officer. I loved her too. She was a great she kilt it too.

LaToya (01:12:04.609)
Mm.

AE (01:12:07.153)
I I I like that. Cause again, it was reminiscent of the older Spider-Man where we just got to see him fight crime and just be Spider-Man on his own. And seeing him go back to his apartment with the bruises and he him being his own lab. I really, I really like that. So yeah. All right. To end out the pod is another a final would you rather you have to watch one movie for the rest of your life? Which one would you be watching? Odyssey.

LaToya (01:12:12.93)
Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm.

AE (01:12:37.171)
Well Spider Man.

Tonee Earle (01:12:39.649)
For the rest of my life.

AE (01:12:41.673)
For the rest of your life you go only watch one movie.

Tonee Earle (01:12:46.307)
Dang, that's tough.

LaToya (01:12:50.998)
Hi.

I'm gonna go with Spider-Man because, because the Odyssey has got some, some parts are just feels like very deep and I feel like I need some levity. I need something to be like, like at some point. I, you know, again, if we're talking about which movie is better, I think they're light years apart in different categories.

AE (01:13:08.287)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

AE (01:13:20.371)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (01:13:20.974)
one of them is not going to be nominated in the same way that another one, the other one is. So, and I'll let you guess which one that is, but I would go with, if I had to watch it one every day, I'm watching, I'm gonna watch Spider-Man. Yeah.

AE (01:13:36.327)
Mm.

Tonee Earle (01:13:38.719)
I think I too would probably watch Spider-Man, but for a different reason. I think there's more black people in Spider-Man than there is the Odyssey. And I would want to see my people. It was like Loupita. It was Lupita and

AE (01:13:48.671)
Yo. Nah, this little Pizza Lil Pizza was a dad and then homeboy. It's over the child.

LaToya (01:13:54.489)
Some of them giants are black. Some of the giants was black. I looked them up. You couldn't see their faces. boy, Corey Hawkins was black. Although he was whack. Although he was whack. Yep.

AE (01:14:01.17)
You couldn't see them though, they look still silver to me. They they look grey to me.

Tonee Earle (01:14:02.481)
You can't even see them joints.

Tonee Earle (01:14:07.354)
It was l it was Lupita and and Corey. That was it. and Travis Scott.

AE (01:14:11.936)
Yeah, homie for me, straight out of Compton. Travis. We didn't even talk about Travis. That got me so mad. I'm still not over that. This is a Christopher Nolan movie. One of the biggest anticipated movies of all time. I do not want to see Travis Scott's face first. That's a crazy way to open that movie. But Travis Scott's face? Come on, son. No. No way. No way. Find somebody. Second face. Minimum.

Tonee Earle (01:14:17.761)
He was so upset.

LaToya (01:14:42.007)
and

AE (01:14:42.388)
That cannot be the first person I see. Hell no.

Tonee Earle (01:14:44.503)
When when I learned that when I learned why Christopher Nolan used Travis Scott, I actually thought that was a beautiful choice to have it start out that way. So I felt like kinda I I like kind of getting into like why a movie is made and what and why directors and writers choose things. So when you hear Christopher Nolan's reason for using Travis Scott to play that role, I think I think it works.

LaToya (01:14:44.718)
favoring.

AE (01:15:03.136)
Yeah.

AE (01:15:12.286)
And why was it?

Tonee Earle (01:15:13.721)
'Cause 'cause he was he was i in the in the book there's always that singer, there's always that person who's providing music at the that's who Trav that's who Travis Scott was playing. And he said, In this w in this world, what better person to use than a rapper? And I thought that actually makes sense. That makes sense to me.

LaToya (01:15:13.772)
Right.

AE (01:15:23.849)
Storyteller.

LaToya (01:15:28.364)
Mm-hmm.

AE (01:15:31.626)
That could have been, that's that's most death's role. That should have been most deaf. You telling me most death wouldn't have killed that? That would have been fire. If it was most deaf. Chance the rapper would have been fire on that.

Tonee Earle (01:15:44.257)
You sound like a hater.

AE (01:15:46.341)
No, I no I'll take it. I don't care. I'll be a hater. I'll be a hater.

LaToya (01:15:49.654)
I feel like he fit in with the aesthetic, the common. I didn't want to see. Yes. which season are you on? okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Yes. Let me know what you think. Yeah.

Tonee Earle (01:15:49.833)
Mm. Mm-hmm.

AE (01:15:56.637)
Not common. No. Not coming. We're watching Silo. We're watching Silo and we're over it. Like Common needs to sit down somewhere. We're in the second season and realized, yeah, common, yeah, common gotta sit there. A few scenes here and there, but common is just one track, like straight through the whole time.

Tonee Earle (01:16:01.846)
my gosh.

Tonee Earle (01:16:05.815)
We on the last season.

Tonee Earle (01:16:16.971)
Es especially now are you caught up, La? yeah. Especially now where they've changed his arc where he's no longer the this bad guy. It's just like all right what are we doing? What are we doing? Common does not play multiple roles like this, okay? Okay, he can barely act in his music videos. What are we doing?

LaToya (01:16:20.555)
yeah, yeah,

Mm-hmm.

AE (01:16:24.905)
Mm-hmm.

LaToya (01:16:28.259)
Yeah.

AE (01:16:33.15)
No range. No the last

LaToya (01:16:34.486)
zero.

Music video, did you see John Wick? Have you seen him in John Wick? Yeah. Yeah. And that's what I saying. there is no... Yeah.

AE (01:16:38.046)
The last talk Yeah, you played the same character.

Tonee Earle (01:16:40.78)
Yeah.

AE (01:16:45.886)
No range. The last time he had range is w his movie with Queen Latifa. And I actually liked that movie.

Tonee Earle (01:16:51.277)
And I don't think he had rage there either.

LaToya (01:16:53.376)
And I did not like that movie.

AE (01:16:54.265)
It was it was John Wick. Same thing, the same thing as John.

Tonee Earle (01:17:02.248)
Bro.

LaToya (01:17:02.958)
So yeah, given the option of Travis Scott or Common, would have chosen Travis Scott. Absolutely. And I don't think that Chance the Rapper has the range to be in this. Mm-hmm.

AE (01:17:03.038)
That's crazy. Shout out to Kevin.

Tonee Earle (01:17:07.211)
Overcoming Travis.

AE (01:17:08.72)
Choose choose jobs, Scott.

Tonee Earle (01:17:15.139)
Ch Chancer Rapper is definitely a great lyricist, but I think he would have sounded funny trying trying to Yeah.

AE (01:17:15.582)
But most deaf.

LaToya (01:17:20.525)
Yeah.

AE (01:17:20.692)
He would've, yeah. His voice is too his voice is too unique. Yeah. But not Chavez Scott.

That was terrible. That was terrible. All right, y'all. Thank y'all for coming on to Conversate with the key, the Earl. we're definitely gonna be doing more movie reviews. thank you for my beautiful co-hosts for being on. They will also be back and this has been Conversate.

Tonee Earle (01:17:44.514)
All right, we out.

LaToya (01:17:44.687)
Bye. Bye.
